The Arena
Fight other players for nothing but the fight itself — no experience, no skills, no items on the line.
What the Arena Is
The arena is a marked-off corner of the world where a lethal blow does not kill you. Take a hit that would have ended your character anywhere else and you simply wake up at the arena entrance, health and mana full, carrying everything you walked in with. A corpse is left behind naming whoever beat you — that is the only record the fight leaves.
It exists so you can settle a duel, test a build or teach someone the ropes without the usual price of losing a fight. Nothing that happens inside follows you out, with one deliberate exception covered further down.
Built on Fibula
You do not have to learn a new map to fight here. The arena reproduces the layout of Fibula — the island practically every player already knows by heart. Same streets, same buildings, same corners to cut behind when a fight turns against you.
Knowing the ground is half of any duel, and here both sides know it equally. Nobody wins because they memorised a layout nobody else had seen.
Getting In and Out
Two monks handle the door. Neither charges anything.
| Who | Where | What to say | |
|---|---|---|---|
| In | Brother Yberius | Venore | hi → arena → yes |
| Out | Brother Arkon | Inside the arena, one floor above the sand | hi → back → yes |
Yberius remembers the exact spot you were standing on and the health and mana you had, then fills both bars up for the fight. Arkon puts you back on that spot and hands your original health and mana back. You do not have to use him: walking, teleporting or logging out of the arena restores you just the same. Yberius will refuse you if you are carrying a protection-zone block from a fight outside — the arena is not an escape hatch.
Nothing the arena did to you follows you out. Every temporary condition is stripped at the door — fire, poison and energy, and with them drunkenness, magic shield, illusion, light, and haste or paralysis. You leave in the state you would have been in had you never walked in.
That one is not cosmetic. A condition set on you inside keeps burning after you leave, and a fighter who walked out on fire and then died in the open world turned that death into an unjustified kill — charged to whoever lit him, over a fight the arena had promised would cost nothing. Clearing conditions at the door is what stops an arena duel from putting a red skull on someone out in the real world.
Skulls and the Protection-Zone Block
The arena uses the same fairness rule as the open world: hitting someone who already carries a skull is justified and costs you nothing. Only an attack on an unskulled player raises your own skull.
| You attack… | You get a skull | You get pz-locked |
|---|---|---|
| a player with no skull | Yes — white skull | Yes |
| a player who already has a skull | No | Yes |
A white skull earned in the arena is temporary: it is taken back the moment you leave, so an arena fight never follows you home. No attacker marks are recorded, no kill counts as unjustified, and nobody becomes a player killer over a duel here.
The protection-zone block is the one thing that does bite. Attacking another player pz-locks you for one minute, exactly as it would outside, and while that lock is on you cannot step into any protection zone — including the arena's own lobby, where Arkon stands. Expect to finish your fight on the sand and wait out the minute before you can go up and ask for the way home.
What the Arena Suspends
While you are standing on arena ground:
- Death costs nothing. No experience lost, no skills dropped, no items left behind.
- Nothing is used up. Runes, ammunition and fluids are not spent, and amulets, rings and shields do not wear out.
- Monsters give nothing. No experience, no loot, and kills do not count towards tasks.
- Two actions are refused: conjuring runes, and trading with another player.
The arena is defined by the ground itself, not by a coordinate: every field the map marks as a pvp zone is arena, lobby and walkways included. That is why stepping off the sand into the lobby is not "leaving" — you are still inside, and your saved health and mana stay saved until you are genuinely out.
Before You Go In
- You cannot enter while pz-locked from a fight outside. Wait it out, then talk to Yberius.
- Your health and mana are saved at the door, not your position in a fight — enter between battles, not in the middle of one.
- A duel is over when one side is put back at the entrance. There is no scoreboard: Realcore keeps no arena ranking, and nothing you do here appears in the highscores.
